Central MN Habitat for Humanity Partners with Elk River High School
A request for $100,000 in Housing Challenge Funds made by the Elk River Area School District has been approved, setting the wheels in motion for a program that will allow Elk River High School’s construction program to go from one that builds sheds to one that builds houses.
The plan is for high school students to start building a house during the 2026-27 school year. The work will be part of a partnership with the Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity, thanks to a $99,999 grant approved on May 22 by the Minnesota Housing Board.
2025 Changemaker Retreat and Recognition

Changemaker Retreat and Recognition
On Thursday, April 17th, Central MN Habitat for Humanity hosted the Changemaker Retreat and Recognition. Attendees were able to assist in the creation of missions and visions for the organization as well as learn about our new mortgage infrastructure. Executive Director, Chad Bouley also presented on the strategic planning process for CMHFH.
2024 Volunteer of the Year
Steve Buley joined the Volunteer Hall of Fame as the 2024 Volunteer of the Year and recipient of the Wilbur Wilkins award. He has volunteered over 1,000 hours, working on at least 28 homes over the last 10+ years.
Steve is a skilled carpenter who is one of our wonderful regular volunteers. He is typically onsite every week that he is available. He helps volunteers who would like to learn new skills or need additional help to complete tasks. Steve is extremely happy and always willing to help out when needed. His time and knowledge help to keep tasks moving in a timely manner onsite.
