Welcome to spring! It’s time for some spring exterior work to keep your home in tip-top shape. The below checklist is a great tool (print it and keep it for future use!). Here we go:
Home Exterior:
- Clean the gutters and, while up there, inspect the roof
- Check the rails on decks to confirm all are in good shape
- Check all decking for warps or worn fasteners, and repair as needed
- Check windows and screens to make sure they are functioning (and wash if you’re feeling energetic!)
- Check and repair caulking around windows and doors
- Turn on frost proof sillcocks (hose spigots) and make sure there are no leaks inside the home
- Test outdoor lights and replace as needed
- Remove Christmas lights
- Service air conditioner
Landscaping/Impervious
- Rake leaves and fertilize as desired
- Trim shrubs, bushes and trees
- Mulch garden
- Start irrigations system (if applicable)
- Service as needed and start lawnmower
- Check fences for needed repair
- Confirm soils are sloping away from the home, and modify as needed
- Driveway:
- Confirm positive drainage away from the home
- Seal driveway (if bituminous)
- Sidewalks – Confirm positive drainage away from home
